Book design is in many ways the marquee event in graphic design: the cover offers a venue for typography, drawing, photography, illustration, even art, at their most rarefied, yet always within commercial parameters – can you get someone to pick up the book, to buy it and to read it? Having an eye on the marketing of a book is vital, and we think we are well placed to do that, just as we are confident in our ability to produce good design ideas for the jacket. Yet the elegant execution of a typeface on a beautifully proportioned page is just as important to a book's success, as much in its aesthetic appeal as in its legibility and ease of comprehension. And though book design is a new area for us at Moot, it is something we are passionate about, and we would be delighted to talk through your ideas, whether well developed or at the very earliest stages. Click on some of the examples on this page, and check our news page for more. |
