Organisers of the 2011 Langland Bay Triathlon (sponsored by Moot), now in its 4th year, were thrilled to see an explosion in entrance numbers. Against the stiffest competition to date, Gareth Blatchford took the title for a record 4th time, but had to battle hard to keep at bay a number of debutants, as well as two previous podium finishers who both recorded new PBs. John Rumble took 2nd, following impressive showings earlier in the year at Blenheim and in London, while Tim Mitchell just edged out last year's runner up Bronwen Blatchford for the bronze – early season marathon training paying off handsomely for Mitchell. Other competitors of note included open water swim specialist Dom Kearne who took 5th, and Wendy Owen, another veteran of Blenheim and London, who coped stoically with front and back punctures, but was unable to make up enough ground on the run, though finished with a smile that belied her fierce determination.
